Shinei Park 新栄公園 is probably the best known park among the city dwellers. The park often becomes the venues of various events such as music concerts, sports events, and city-sponsored ceremonies. Ishigakijima Festival 石垣島まつり- the most popular festival in city - is held at the park every year on the first Saturday and Sunday of November.
Sports-minded students and adults gather at the park during day or in the early evening to enjoy walking, jogging, playing soccer or baseball.
